I'm definitely not a Sony fanboy... and have only had my PS3 for about two months... I love all games and systems for the most part... but how was this most recent article a knock on Sony and/or its backward compatibility??
My take on the article was that the PS3 is the only Blu-ray player that is gonna be able to keep up when Blu-ray switches to 2.0...

so all the people who bought non-ps3 blu-rays are just s.o.l.

You just made Oscars point: Blue Ray *is* Sony.. they are in charge of the format so by making a version 2.0 that completely obsoletes all of the non-PS3 players they're not being very backwards compatible.

I suppose... as long as the knock is on Sony and not necessarily the PS3... I think I'll be okay with it... it does suck that Sony seems so heartless at times but it's just not enough for me to boycott an awesome gaming/entertainment system because of it...

it was a knock on sony... maybe its too early to tell but it sounds like the new spec is totally incompatible with previous BR versions. if sony had any brains the new features should simply be disabled
