So maybe you were going from more regular WoT updates from me, but 6 episodes in and I'm not really having fun yet, maybe the next 2 episodes for real tho this time, I can't really understand some of the decisions they made with the story, like I get it production is expensive, but like writing can't someone just take an hour to read the script and check if it makes sense? And if it doesn't maybe refer to the bestselling books that you're making the show about? It all seems willful at this point

So I can't write up all the issues going on with the show but this lady seems to cover most of what I think of in about 30 minutes https://youtu.be/Ru6h6Oqrd4g

I know this is the book thread but the expanse started back up and I said to barbie like isn't it great when a show actually makes sense

K I finished ep 8 which wraps season 1 and essentially book 1 and wouldn't you know they somehow developed all the characters, dive into the world and lore, established some important relationships, and everything made sense, no you wouldn't know that because that's not what happened, it's so bad like it's spiteful how dumb it is, did you like that fake out narrative I wrote up? Well then you're going to love the multiple fake out deaths in this episode, and also be sure to hold back your magic power wave until after your front line men die at the wall for some reason, and make sure youur main character has the most anticlimactic moments of them all, figures out he's the dragon reborn? "It's me..." Slayed the dark one maybe? "I did it...." Ahhhh

I started the audiobook of Shogun. It’s roughly 54 hours long. I listen once per work day only on my trip back, which is about a 20 min ride. I will let you know what I think in 162 business days.

Not sure if it's related to the tv mini series from the 80s but my grandad had like a fancy VHS box set so I felt ok when I pirated it back in prime pirating days, watched it when I should've been writing a paper probably, don't remember much but I remember the gaijin san was being too chill with the ladies so they thought maybe he was into dudes and he got mad

So I've started WoT for like the 4th time now, but I guess the wheel weaves as the wheel wills.  I feel like I'm living that scene where they're tracking the Horn with Ingtar and Hurin, and Rand walks into that village house.  Each vision revealing slightly more detail. Blink.  So I've started the WoT for like the 4th...haha.

This time I started with book 1 at the beginning of July, and I'm on book 2, chapter 36.  Still about 400 pages shy of my last read through.  It's sad how much I've forgotten, but I've substituted a lot of my wasteful screen time with reading time, so this time it feels like I'll make more progress.

I still haven't watched the series or read the discussion in this thread.  Maybe I'll get to that in a few years.

Blink.  Ahh f, time to find the void and read.

Just finished book 3.  I decided to try the read aloud feature for Play Books on our drive home from Maryland.  It's got some quirks, but I was able to listen to the book while I drove.

Now I listen to it when I'm at home too.  It helps me focus and maintain a quick pace.  Maybe I can finish the series by the end of the year.

I just went ahead and decided I wouldn’t read the books, so I started watching the show. I like it so far.
