Dell does an annual Invitational Steps Challenge, where you sign up to be on a team of 5 people, and enter daily step counter data. Your team is matched against a random-but-similarly-performing team each week to see who can log the most steps. There are monetary rewards in the form of visa gift cards for various achievements throughout the process.
Needless to say, it's a shitshow of one-upmanship and fraud.
However, both last year and this year, it has gotten me off my ass. It started yesterday, and here's what I've done so far:
- Wed Apr 17 - AM Run 11 minutes, Walk 10 minutes (cooldown and get mo' steps)
- Wed Apr 17 - Lunch Walk 10 minutes
- Wed Apr 17 - PM Run 10, Walk 10
- Thu Apr 18 - AM Run 12, Walk 10
The daily goal is 10k steps, and I met that yesterday. Here's to sore muscles and feeling better eventually (hoping that's still a thing in your 30s?).
