13 Assassins - It's on netflix. So if you want a samurai movie with less white people and more stylized action this is for you. The level of intensity for things is constantly bordering on silly but it manages to stay within acceptable levels for pretty much the whole thing. The bad guy is vilified so much you start to lose your suspension of disbelief and the crazy samurai value system does the same thing to you. But the movie pulls you back in with something sincere and you're having a good time. How does it compare to The Last Samurai? The action in The Last Samurai was very visceral and sucked you in because it felt real. 13 Assassins action is much more about style with some aw hell yeah moments. There's even some special fx and borderline anime camera work. Not much but it's there. But like I said less white people (none actually) so that's cool. Would've made a great TT outing. 3.5 out of 5 target seeking incendiary ordinances.
so amber steph rachel matt and I just won 5 tickets to see the screening of the new sherlock holmes movie at trivia tonight w00t! The tickets are for tuesday@7:30 at atlantic station but no one wanted them so I have 5 now. Anyone down?
p.s - I almost died on the drive home. I was doing about 60 on the turn on Ponce right before that bridge. I was like "oh shit" and started fish tailing towards oncoming traffic!! So i over corrected and started fish tailing the other way oh shit! (luckily no one else was doing 60 so no one was next to me...). So of course I overcorrected again and started fishtailing again towards more on coming tracking shit shit!! so I repeated my previous mistakes and car rammed into the curb on the last fishtail and I was able to regain control. *phew* I lost my back right hub cab and the tire is scuffed but no real damage to the car. There was some a bit more vibration noticeable at highway speeds but all in all I'm really fucking lucky. If those first or third fishtails had gone on any longer I might've reverse T-boned a car and wouldn't be writing this post right now...
Anyways...tuesday's coming and I'm feeling fat and sassy! So anyone down for a movie?

i feel like a giddy school girl. batman is my favorite hero and bane is my favorite villain. glad he is getting the nolan treatment to redeem what schumacher did in b&r
Was that the bat mobile in desert camo? Oh snap! Seems like someone got to Lucius. I'm excited! I haven't been let down by Nolan yet.
edit: I only know bat man from the original cartoon and I don't remember bane playing a big role in it. Mr. Freeze is definitely my favorite villian from that show. Hopefully there's a 4th in the future because schwarzenegger for mr. freeze? srsly? i wouldn't mind seeing the kaiser Kevin Spacey play mr. freeze.

I read this book when I was younger. I recommend it. I'm gonna re-read it before the movie comes out.
