65 nm is 65 nm - if AMD made the more desirable product I would buy it even if they killed cats to make it. Especially if they used kittens . .

Ok so let's put politics asside for a minute. Instead let's focus on performance.

LinkyOMG who cares
Intel ftw Intel is given the edge although it appears these authors are biased in favor of Intel.
Intel ftw These tests are really skewed due to an unfair setup but still reasonable
Intel mostly Intel for performance; AMD suffices if you're a cheap bastard
OMG It doesn't really matterIntel if you can tell the differentiate 0.1 fps AMD if you like your money (slightly old but gets to the point)

Moral: Intel vs. AMD: Basically it doesn't matter but choose Intel if you care to pay for a slight edge.

I like my E6600. I'll probably wait for a couple more months before I overclock it to stay in the game. :D

I saw stats in a couple like the tom's hardware and by zdnet uk that showed on processes like packing a rar and encoding mp3 to aac equa-Hz AMD took about twice as long as Intel and that with similar setups (ZDNet) the battery life of the AMD was nearly half that of the one running the intel chipset. I mean its not the end of the world but its more than 0.1 fps that you would notice in a game. and if you have seen my recent tragic posts there's no more of that for me. :( Unless this new laptop is so hardcore I could play on Mom's wireless . . . . ;-)

PS Hawt tables :-D

well my foray into Vista has been interesting. First of all the tablet pc is tres fun so far and seems to be useful for note taking and organizing. Vista is ok i guess - you can turn off the annoying 'approve this' crap pretty easily windows finally has its own virusscan so i can get rid of norton and the task manager shows a list of services! However that list as well as the list of processes is quite long but it hasn't slowed performance and a lot of it is stuff from Asus and not Vista - power mode services hotkey listeners stylus watchers etc. Oh and the handwriting recognition is awesome considering I often can't read my own handwriting. It comes with pretty cool feature - fingerprint reader coupled with a Trusted Platform Module that seems pretty fancy. I'm not gonna set it up yet but it'll be cool for later if i ever use it for medical stuff so i can keep patient records on there and stuff (yay HIPPA).
And finally played some ultimate today laid out like i should! hot DAMN that hurt so good. ;-)

Got the Asus. I sat next to an IBM HP and Toshiba tablet today and I definitely prefer my own no bias intended. It's prettier faster slightly wider screen but just as light has better features (hot swap! no webcam tho ;-) ) and cheaper than all but the HP.

Can anybody hook me up w/partition magic? For some reason they set my 120G hd up with a windows partition of 64G and the rest as a "data" partition with naught but recycle bin and system volume information in it. Unless anyone knows of a good justification for that balance?

this one time on my mom's computer the hard drive had a bad sector that screwed up the whole OS and i had to reformat and reinstall windows and the bad sector thwarted this so i figured if i made 2 equal size partitions (actually one half a partition and the other half unallocated) the odds would be 1:2 that the bad sector would be in the unallocated space so i reallocated and reinstalled once and it failed then i reallocated and reinstalled and it works and still works to this day

so i'll email you PM

*update* turns out I don't even need partition magic!

Dunno what i think about the actual partition scheme tho - I really don't like having to spilt my stuff up between two almost equally sized partitions - do you think I should make one bigger or merge them or leave it? Any suggestions?
Also wtf is with the 5G mystery partition that appears to do nothing!?
Another cool thing going on is ReadyBoost where I can speed up the system by inserting my 1G flash card from my camera . . .
And my final rant is that some wierd shit goes on with user accounts. Once I couldn't edit my own start menu and when i unpack archives to the desktop they appear in windows explorer but not actually on the desktop . . .
