Deus Ex: Human Revolution official review:

I spent a lot of time playing this game over the past couple weeks. The story is pretty interesting for the first half but it gets kind of muddled later. I think this also comes from my tendency to explore in video games. After a while though it seems kind of tedious unlocking every door and hacking every computer. You can play it as a stealth game or a shootem up game. I usually did a mix of the two. Playing it the stealth way leads to trial and error and I found myself looking at loading screens a lot so I could try to not mess up. The active powers feel kind of gimped since you have to conserve energy so much but the weapons and controls all feel great. The conversation system that comes up in gameplay type conversations is pretty fun. I would say the most intense section of the game was just a conversation with a washed up cop manning the reception desk. I could have avoided the situation entirely and the game always has several ways to accomplish what you're trying to do. There were a couple more really dramatic moments and some nice subdued ones. The ending was kind of disappointing. I was hoping it would be a summation of all the choices you made and the methods you used but it's just determined by a simple mechanic. But if you look or listen closely the consequences of your actions can be found. I think the game needed some sort of shift around the 2/3 mark to freshen it back up for the home stretch. Maybe some new powers or some un-gimping. Lots of references to the original Deus Ex if you look for them. Overall I'd say it met my expectations but I was secretly hoping it would exceed them.

Portal 2 tonight?  :D I haven't bought it yet but I probably will soon.

I went to my cousin's wedding up in VA and a lot of them play Star Craft 2.  I never got into SC so I couldn't partake but I think it's about time to open that chapter in my life.  so SC2?

Also G?

This was sort of a force--and hence unplanned--vacation so I'm probably going to spend copious hours playing video games.  One man LAN w00t!

Achron (the time travelling RTS that arif posted a link to on page 15) is out of alpha/beta testing. it's on sale for 29.95 and if you buy it you get 2 licenses (play with a friend!). maybe we should coordinate a group-buy and get the most bang for our bucks.
