Hyperion - listened on audible lawn mowing/bike riding/commuting. Sci-fi galactic civilization stuff. There's like 7 main characters trying to do something and along the way they tell each of their origin stories. Those stories are decently interesting the book ends when they all get where they're going before anything happens so essentially the whole book is a set up for the next one I guess. Good enough for passing time I think I ordered the second one with a audible credit I had to spend. 3 out of 5 Dying Earth 2's.
The Name of the Wind by Patrcik Rothfuss - audible book during chores etc. This is a fantasy book and it's the first in series but I don't think I'll be following it. It's pretty dull and I'm over people not having a completed story in each of their books just a break until the next story. A Clever Young Man does fantasy stuff. Most of the book is around him going to fantasy university complete with fantasy student housing fantasy research projects fantasy lecture classes fantasy student loans fantasy wondering what the hell girls are all about fantasy disciplinary hearings and on and on. So the main reason I think I post my opinions is so y'all can determine if it's worth your time. This barely makes the cutoff for being worth your time while doing chores or commuting IMO. And also when something didn't work out for the character dude kept saying "but this isn't some story tale" or some such. Get over yourself Patty. 2 out of 5 fantasy meal plans
I haven't read them but I might jump on it as I need a new series to read.
do eet interested in your opinion of it a couple years from now
Got'd! Also amazon pointed me over to "Malazan Book of the Fallen" by Steven Erikson with lots of reviews saying its the bestest giant fantasy fiction epic evar. Ever heard of it? I propose you read that one and Arif and I read this one and we have a book club meeting on it in 2017
