gj apple

cliffs: apple released the last version (7) of Final Cut Pro in 2009 still as a 32-bit application. it has essentially become the industry standard for video editing for independent film makers. on june 21st they finally update it to a 64-bit application and call it Final Cut Pro X - "a revolutionary new version of the world's most popular Pro video editing software which completely reinvents video editing."

but it turns out they severely neutered it removing a lot of functionality including the ability to open Final Cut Pro project files or even support multiple audio and/or video tracks! essentially they turned it into a slightly fancier version of their free iMovie home video editing software and charge $300 for the negligible additional features. oh and they immediately end-of-life'd FCP 7 to boot!

My sister read a news article about NAUPA (national association of unclaimed property administrations) and my initial reaction was that this was some kind of phishing scam but it seems to be legit.  She checked the florida site and didn't find anything under her name but there were two items under my name associated with my parent's address.  One was for a best buy rebate and the other for a western digital rebate.  It turns out I had $100 in unclaimed rebate moneys!

You have to submit documentation that has the address on file and your name on it but I should be able to track down an old pay stub to claim my moneys.  You can enter in your SSN to expediate processing but I opted not to enter it to be on the safe side.  I'll let you guys know if my identity gets stolen but it's worth checking out.

p.s. - Here's a news article about NAUPA.
