Drew and everyone else. I will be out of school when I move to Japan. Unless I just happen to come across $10000 or so to make it happen. And my field Automotive Technology will have pletny openings there as you may or may not know about 60-75% of all our cars come from Japan. I dont care what you guys think. I'm going. And when im watching CNN and you guys are not getting rescued from a tornado or whatever. I'll make sure and post a shout saying how sorry I am and how I would help if I was about 6000 miles closer or so.... :-D

I've thought about working in Japan in a few years. I've always aspired to be a director in independent films and as y'all may or may not know 90%-95% of all Japscat comes straight from our Nipponese friends.

On a more serious note I think that we all should be keeping an eye on the great nation of India. They're supposed to be overtaking China for population in the next ten years or so. If I were to be taking an Asian language it would probably be some Indian dialect.

Some political commentary - And Chief Justice Rehnquist died. So Pres. Bush gets another supreme court pick. All kinds of happenins going down in then USofA.
And in my opinion even though the population of India will overtake China the tribal society of India loses out to Chinese nationalism. They're both still contenders though.
Edit: I predict Bush promotes Clarence Thomas to chief justice.

Well you guys dont care cause your not car freaks like me but Japan has 102 octane fuel which is megga sweet and their cars are ultra megga sweet to begin with so that's my main reason for going. Too bad im the only one that knows that an idle air control valve isnt actually a valve.... NOOBS

I'm not sure I'm comfortable with any octane level higher than 100. How can it be equivalent to a "negative" amount of heptane anyway? I call shenanigans.
Cool game - better than halflife 2 perhaps? Try the demo.

The octane rating of a fuel if just the fuels ability to retain heat energy. The lower level of octane ex. 87 has more heat energy than ex. 93. But when you have an engine with higher than say 10:1 compression you need a higher level of ocatne fuel because the raised compression ratio raises cylinder pressures and therefore a fuel with higher heat energy would cause pre-detonation or "ping". Which in the quest for performance is BAD. Now Japan's cars use small displacment engines and use high compression ratios to make enough power to achieve a high rate of speed. Therefore needing higher octane fuel. However contrairy to belief the different fuel grades are all the same. they come from the same "pipe line" as 87 and is delivered by the same trucks. The only thing that gives it a higher octane is additives that take away some of that heat energy potential.
(edit): Racing fuel is anywhere from 100-115.
Now. On another note I have a first gen. PS2 for sale with a contoller for $40 O.B.O.

I understand the result of higher octane rating. I was making a play on the original meaning of the octane number: it represents the mixture of octane (high energy high efficiency) with heptane (lower energy poor efficiency) fuels needed to get an equivalent performance. 87 means 87% octane 13% heptane.
Since we now have some fuels that work more efficiently than octane we can have a number higher than 100. There was a (small) controversy in the industry when higher-than-100 first came out simply because if you have 102% octane you need to have -2% heptane which isn't physically possible. They did away with the formal grading system and now use a more abstract definition.
Just playing off of your "ignorant n00bs" line in the prior post :-P
