So what's the easiest way to get my entire library to the 256-Kbps AAC format? It mentions it plays back does that mean I should sign up for it move my library then re-sync with the cloud?
I believe that's the gist of it. Then (assuming you dont want to do anything but legitemize your existing library) cancel your account so it only costs $25 to get thousands of songs.
And it's not really "moving your library" if you dont have to upload anything. If they recognize the song that's in your library as one that they have in their catalog they just "check a box" and say "yup bhicks has that song" so there's no super long upload period.
This should work for most things but really obscure stuff and live bootlegs will be less likely to be found in Apple's catalog.
Apparently you have to create a playlist with all your songs to resync since there's no resync all. Also instead of replacing played songs as you go it deletes your whole local library but besides these few caveats it's a cool concept in general.
It took me FOREVER to upload just 1k songs to google music so I just stopped using it. This seems like a much cleaner solution.
Fucking Apple! They buy out LaLa (free service that did exactly this + the rest of iTunes functionality without the shitty iTunes program) slap the iTunes label on it a year later and charge you $25/year for all their hard work. You go to hell you go to hell and you die!
mmmm tasty groove . . .

Never before have I spent 12 weeks dedicated to recording mixing and mastering one song. I'd say the class paid off.
