I think this thread could serve as inspiration for a thoroughly badassed and yet completely lame Rage Against the Machine song.

There are three services from which you can get a free tax report once a year (for each): Experian Equifax and TransUnion.

I didn't file one...might should have but it seems that everything has been restored painlessly. I had to submit an affidavit to the bank where the dude opened the account to swear that it really wasn't me. I also put a hold on my credit report with the three credit agencies so that nobody can open any sort of account in my name until I say it's cool.

So while i was trying to
purchase my lovely new ipod touch circuit city said my credit card was denied.. so I tried again and it was denied again. So I called up chase and they read out a number of attempted charges. I recognized the two for $521.51 because that's what I had just tried. but then there was a ~$1500 charge at some online clothing store. They had denied that charge as well because they entered an incorrect expiration date. *phew*
So they turned my card back on let me charge the ipod while I was still on the phone then canceled the card and issued me a new one. Thanks Chase!
