Just for future reference it's chanukah or hanukkah. Had to google it I had Adam Sandler's songs running through my head and remembered "the c is silent in chanukah."

There's more than one Romanization scheme that applies (Tiberian for Hebrew Sephardic for modern Israeli a million and a half for different Yiddish dialects) so it gets spelled in a number of ways. For instance "Jesus" and "Joshua" are actually the same Hebrew name Hellenized and then Romanized using two different schemes. Jehovah = Yahweh Moses = Mosheh Solomon = Shelomoh yadda yadda yadda.
Just ask one of your Japanese-speaking compatriots about the frustrating nuances of the Nippon Kunrei and Hepburn systems.
