I think I had a dyslexic moment with the hard drive capacity and the price. I wouldn't even go with one that large. I just couldn't find the WD 74 GB Raptor on newegg's site. I am just a fan of western digital for some reason.

You should definitely grab that 42 inch display. You are going to need it for g

Dont worry about Tiger Direct they are fine. I ordered from them many times. Just dont order any case fans from them.

I've never used a UPS before.. on the specs for that CyberPower it says the battery life is up to 3 yr -- do they usually last longer than that or will I be replacing the batteries every few years?

Just for fun I picked out the stuff for a budget PC and came up with this one for $336.95 (free shipping!):

Mobo/video/snd/net
CPU
RAM
HD

the power supply that comes with that case is only 220W which might not be enough and you'd be hard pressed to find another one that'd fit in that case

according to the power supply guide at the same site I need 112.2W or more. That's including the suggested extra 10% and assuming the CPU is 4.5 (halfway between athlon 3200 and 3500 even tho mine's a sempron).

1.1 * 12 * (4.5 cpu + 2.0 hd + 1.0 cd + 1.0 mobo) = 112.2W

lemme know if i did it wrong :o

Might I suggest a Lian-Li case.

This is just one of their interesting cases but a lot of their other ones are pretty svelte as well (speaking from experience). Only downside is lack of power supply and perhaps price; upside is a lot of clean edges thumb screws sliding mobo tray etc. Just my $0.02.

And third party(?) review of the Intel Core 2 Duo/Conroe versus AMD from Tom's Hardware

Does the TV have DVI input? I see it has RGB but your vid card doesn't. Might want to consider that if you're wanting to integrate the TV and computer. Or they make adapters that go from S-vid to composite video signals and I think you can use them to send a HD signal. The video card has to support it though.

Something like this
