MoH:AA among the casualties as well.. I remember all of the no clipping hacks we used to do like teleporting to the roof to snipe. So troll-y.. good times.

i was really bad at some moh:aa i think i only killed shawn in other news xb1 will be sold without kinect starting next month i mean i get the business decision they're lagging behind ps4 in sales prob due to the higher price point but man way to wuss out at least there was a chance of getting some possible innovation if developers were guaranteed the kinect was going to be there but instead now look forward to cheap gimmicky flail fests for a generation

use steam to stream games on a gaming rig to a puny laptop on the same local network sounds good to me guess i need a gaming rig i could have that set up somewhere it could also act as a file server and stream games to the laptop and hdmi to the tv and BAM...actually does add something to think about for deciding next-gen purchases hmmmm

Finished up Sleeping Dogs. It's an open world grand-theft-auto type game where you're an undercover cop in Hong Kong infiltrating the Triads. Other games have done driving shooting melee combat side quests sandbox mayhem and story better than this but everything in it is really solid and it's a whole package. It looks really good and has some nice touches that you might miss such as a random NPC taking their phone out to take a picture of the poor sap you ran over with a bus (should've been paying attention). The dev team really mada great product. The gangster side of it is much more compelling than the cop side as you watch the character progress up the ranks. I felt like I was making it. On the cop side it's pretty predictable "YOU'RE OUT OF CONTROL I'M BRINGING YOU IN" back and forth. Gets you thinking about where a lot of money goes IRL. 4 out of 5 kung fu flunkies (thanks for letting me practice my leg break on you over and over)

In other news committed myself to a playthrough of the original Deus Ex which I've only played a few levels over the years. Smart game and still plenty of stuff to appreciate about it 14(?) years later.

Made it through Deus Ex. The main draw of the game is the way it lets you do things. You get a pile of tools/weapons/skills and an open map and you figure out how do accomplish the objectives. I found that I was doing things based on my attention span. I went out of my way to find extra bits of the fiction but pretty much killed dudes one by one to get through the level. The risk/reward considerations are ruined by my constant quick saving/loading. But why wouldn't I quick save then spend a consumable to see what treasures I can find then reload if they're lame? Takes the immersion out of it. Narratively it presents a good futuristic/dystopia/conspiratorial atmosphere early on but the later levels are lacking this. I enjoyed the little touches that made you feel like the game was watching you i.e. you go in the women's bathroom and later your boss is like wth stay out. Bottom line is the game makes you feel smart if you let it. 4 out of 5 hi res mods (used one for this play through)

got the aforementioned steam in-home streaming going yesterday and i'm all for it now i was going from a wimpy laptop to an even wimpier laptop over crappy bottle-necked wifi so i got the results i would expect i.e. compressionated video at like 3 fps but i think a gaming rig on a good connection would actually make it feasible

look here's an mspaint for the ideal setup:

my issues:
- i don't have a gaming rig
- my wifi is bottlenecked because i have to keep it on wep security because my access point for the xbox360/ps3/tv won't work on wpa etc
- router has to be in the living room due to me unplugging some coax connections so the gaming rig would have to be there too
- would need a better game pad

fixing to try to stream from my old rig which i'm posting on now single core processor and 1 gig of ram but the gpu was a decent one from 2011 and should render better than either laptop if it meets the requirements always hated it when games wouldn't let you run them because they're like "your gpu has eyebrow shader/renderer 1.1 but 3.0 is required" dude just go and we'll turn the eyebrows off and determine emotions by context

interesting strategy that i can endorse: buy a digital copy of destiny on 360/ps3 get a free digital copy for xb1/ps4 till jan 2015 too bad digital games copies are going to kill us all thanks obama
