alrighty. incidentally i just fixed the avatar uploader to automatically select your newly uploaded avatar as your active avatar (since that's probably what you're about to do anyway)

OK so for now the "reverse post order" is only in the preferences page as a checkbox. Here's how it'll work:
If you leave the box un-checked everything will appear as it does now (pages 1-n of a thread = ordered chronologically like a book)
If you check the box pages 1-n will still contain the same information as before (page 1 = the first set of posts). however within each page the posts will be ordered newest to oldest top to bottom.
The reason I am maintaining the same page ordering is to be consistent with page bookmarks and links (if you bookmark thread 6 page 1 it will always display the same information no matter what your preference setting is). I'm sure mike will appreciate this ;-D

How about a list under "currently logged in" that shows all members names. Like a list that says Jaywatkins: Logged in Mwinter: Logged in
So on and so forth.. cool?

I like Jacob's idea. However if this forum ever gets huge we're probably going to have to put it on a seperate page.

although changing shawn's avatar to arbitrary and potentially offensive images is a valid feature request I don't agree that you should have control over the appearance of the thread nor do I think you should be able to censor anyone's replies. When you start a thread you start a conversation. What other people say in that conversation is not up to you.

It was my brother who brought it up again but I'll go ahead and post it here: some people may have wanted the option of Private Messages among the users. In the same line of privateness I'll go ahead and throw this idea out there: members-only threads. any thoughts?

Private messages not so much there I think. We've all got AIM. Pirate Messages though...
