Last Weekend

I know there's a "This Weekend" thread talking about plans for the future but this here is for talkin about what went down already.

I'll start it off by saying Riverbend was pretty awesome. Friday night Willie Nelson was a bit less than expected but we heard him play some hits and interesting covers and stuff.

Saturday Rachel and I ate dinner at this place called the Blue Water Grille. Soon after we were seated a group of 5-6 people were seated in a booth right next to us. They turned out to be that night's main event Train. So that was pretty cool. A few hours later they rocked our faces off. I only knew (and enjoyed) a few Train songs before this weekend but I was thoroughly impressed with their performance and I plan on purchasing their new album which comes out this fall. Their new stuff is fantasticle. They covered "Ramble On" and closed with "Dream On" and nailed both of them.

Sunday was Three Dog Night with the the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra which was pretty darn cool. They played plenty of hits and some not-so-well-known 3DN songs. They also whipped up a rap remix of Mama Told Me Not To Come pretty much ripping on the whole hip hop genre (saying you dont really need talent or melody just a drum machine and rhymes). Ah well old men will have their fun.

I'm a lil sunburned a lil tired and a very satisfied.

i went to seattle and had a bunch of fun with my sisters and our friend who lives there. we went on a very poorly planned camping trip on an island off the coast of washington (a little bit Club 409 style). then we went on a boat ride and saw some orcas. it was pretty sweet.

after a cursory glance at van Zandt's singles i dont think so. specifically no Pancho and Lefty. He did play Crazy (not Crazy). i didnt know he wrote that one; I thought it was a cover.
