I've started the process of migrating club409 to the new hosting with crucial. I ended up finding a better coupon that saved me $100 instead of $50 so for the first 2 years the monthly cost is under $4.
A few nifty things about the new hosting:
- 250 Gigs of space
- No decency restrictions
- Unique IP
- Shell access although I haven't requested it yet
- National Integration
We will no longer have the "yellow" login for members-only images -- I've got a script set up to check if you're logged in to your club409 account before serving up the images. I've got plogger set up on the new server and its images are behind the members-onlyness. It's still got ~2400 images queued on the FTP.
I don't have the sub-domain (img.club409.com) set up yet.. I'll deal with that once the plogger uploads are done.
It'll probably be another week or 4 before I finish testing everything and then I'll switch over the DNSes to have club409.com point to the new hosting. And then it might be some more time after that before the plogger comment integration is done; I haven't looked at any of the details there.
