V you've asked me several times about the
digital conversion but admittedly I wasn't informed enough to give you a good answer. The link describes everything you need. Apply for a coupon today if you haven't already. It'll probably take several weeks for you to receive the coupon but it could save you $40 on your digital converter box. :O
Most boxes will get the job done but supposedly some will produce better sound and picture quality. It's also recommended that you find a box that allows analog pass-through which basically lets you watch analog channels without having to disconnect/turn off your digital converter. This will be useful during this transition period while some channels are still broadcasting in analog until they upgrade. Some boxes provide an eletronic programming guide which is pretty nifty. You should also look for a box that has channel up/down buttons on it in case you lose/break your remote. The best box I found is the
Zenith DTT901 but unfortunately it's out of stock on all the sites (that i've checked) that accept the govt coupon. The
zinwell zat 950A got good reviews too.
If you don't have an
VHF/UHF antenna it could help pick up more channels. You can find one at almost any retail store for $10-15.
That's all you really need to know (and more) so be prepared!
