Last time we started without the previous year's pennant was in '91. Opening day today. Got some new pitching and a new right side of the infield. I'm hopeful for this season. Maybe we won't blow 30 saves.

Also I'm wihout cable TV here so in depth analysis will be lacking for a while.

I watched opening day. I will say that the braves looked destined to win especially after the 8th. the bulpen looks like it just might be as good as the hype they were lights out. I'm hopeful too. Smoltz pitched well too.

Noticed that the braves have the best record in baseball at 5-1. This season has me worried even though they are winning. they always pull it out but i still cant help thinking about last year and i get nervous like when it's bases loaded and joey devine is pitching. i just know something fabulous will happen.

This is what Smoltz said after winning his 195th game but almost losing the lead in the 7th. "I am glad we won because I am fearful what I would have done to myself." -- Braves' Smoltz. Thats the spirit I like to hear coming from a soon-to-be 40 yr old pitcher. guys just starting out in the big leagues these days dont have that much passion for winning. i come to respect him even more in each passing day.

good to see the ofense rallying after Smoltz gave up some runs

After today's game ended I was curious as to what was causing the pain up my butt. Bobby Cox lost that one trying to let Hudson get a complete game shutout. Way to lose the game with a 3-0 lead in the ninth. Braves are going south after that great start.

Atl traded ryan langerhans to oakland. not surprising since he was batting a big ole 0.068.
