What do you guys think? these are the only two on there that support 1080p:

I gotta tell ya after visiting best buy and seeing how each brand really did look different i'm not gonna buy an expensive tv without seeing it in action.

Here's another option to consider: Samsung HL-S5087W 50" 1080p DLP HDTV If you click "buy from online vendor" and go to amazon they have it listed for 1848.99.
Although this article is about projectors I'm guessing a lot of the points can be applied to the TV's . Here's another article explaining the technology. My aunt bought one (maybe a different model) and apparently her son-in-law researched tv's for a while and found this to be the best option.
