Mongol: It was alright. It's an independent film and is in limited release. I think it's going to be a trilogy. It was way slow and mostly one-dimensional. I'm not sure if I can handle another two movies. The cinematics were cool but there just wasn't any sparkle. Maybe if I was Mongorian and trying to break down shitty walls I'd feel more towards this movie. Oh yeah it's about Genghis Khan. Maybe the next movie will widen the scope a bit and we'll be able to see what's going on in all of Asia that allowed for a big empire to form up. Most of Mongol stays pretty zoomed in close around the main character who isn't all that interesting. In the movie 300 the dude is like we have to fight for the last bastion of hope for democracy against tyranny and that was pretty cool even though I didn't care about the movie all that much. In Mongol it's hard to get a sense of why Genghis Khan is going through all the trouble of building an empire or if that's what he even wants. But anyways go see it if you're bored. 3 out of 5 yurts.
