I have to agree with steve. I think the refs did the right thing by not blowing the ball dead because no one could say without a doubt whether someone had possession or not. I just thought it was unpossible that the guy wasn't on the ground when he got possession. After seeing the replay though he was clearly on his feet when he ripped the ball from the pile. ::stomps feet and flails arms in a fit of rage::

We had SOOOOOOOOOOOOO many opportunities to take control of that game though. We just have a team of chokers--that is to say we have Reggie Ball. Ok I take it back you have to be good before you can be a choker. :( Everyone stepped up to the plate (e.g. - that return to the 33 after the fluke TD) Reggie Ball just lost it for us. ::shrugs shoulders::

p.s. - Mike I'm still up for going. This might be the last time we get to see CJ (besides our bowl game). I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't come back to play with a Reggie Ball backup QB.

I wasn't saying it was surprising simply stating the obvious.

I actually was disappointed in J.Johnson more than anyone else. Two wide open passes in the hands and he missed both of them. Actually looked like he batted them down instead of trying to catch them. He still got rocked on the 2nd one after he missed it. Then I didnt really care for CJs performance either. He had 2 CJ make-able catches for touchdowns that I felt should've been caught. Lastly judging from the newspaper (they felt the ball should have been called down) but from everyone that i talked to who got to see the replay said the correct call was made. So I'll take it. reggie balls performance was expected so not too disappointed.

and I never meant to get into the rules but they are all vague. everything is defined by having 'possession' which is then defined by 'controlled'. but what is controlled? sometimes not much control is needed but others if you cant withstand an assault from the 6 nearest 350 pound giants you dont have possession.

if it helps if it was LSU in GT's place i think i'd still agree with the call. when i saw it live i objected but when they showed the replay i conceded it was the right call.

and i definitely agree that the rules are vague. the rules say to complete a catch you only have to firmly hold the ball while touching the ground. but if someone hits you a second after you land and the ball comes loose 99 times out of 100 its an incomplete pass not a fumble regardless of how firmly your hold on the ball was.
