A couple of my coworkers talked me into playing summer league ultimate in Knoxville. I'm looking forward to it because I haven't played in quite a while, but also thinking this was probably a terrible idea because I might be in the worst shape of my life. We'll see how it goes, could be interesting. Anybody else playing in ultimate leagues? Curious how 409 is holding up in that area.

My meniscus is still torn. I have surgery scheduled for June 21st, so I might be able to a start playing again in the fall. However, with the baby on the way, it'll probably be a while before I'll have time.

I haven't registered for this season's summer league. I'm too bummed about the not making any friends part to enjoy the ultimate part.

haven't played in years, don't have the desire to evangelize any friends that are here to it, and i don't want to meet new people, and i'm working evenings, would like to play though

Michael played some last summer. He signed up for a somewhat casual summer league, and there's a group that plays regular-ish pick up at the park near our house. I didn't really play since I was pregnant. But Matt we had the same problem/frustration about not making friends. They didn't do anything social after games or anything. And of course around here it's hard to play year round.

Round here, we all look the same.

I'm optimistic about the social scene at Knoxville ultimate, there is a post-game social after every game at a craft beer bar that offers discounts for ultimate players. We'll see how it goes.

Any suggestions for a team name that I should offer up? Other team names so far include "Make America Gray Again", and "Victorious Secret". Our team color is navy, so working that into the name is a plus.

First ultimate game last night, played down a man (woman, actually) the entire game and still nearly won. Lost 17-16 on universe point. Confirmed that I am in fact in terrible shape. Also, Knoxville ultimate is pretty competitive. Also, I determined that pretty much the worst feeling playing ultimate is going all out for a disc, laying out fully extended and coming up about 2 inches short.
