goes without saying but once the "remember me" box is functional the state of georgia would appreciate limiting its use to your personal computers and not work or other public computers due to YS issues

Faster. Friendlier. Easier.

ok gang "remember me" is semi-operational. if you login with the box checked it should log you in every time you come back.

if you log out it shouldn't auto-login the next time you load the page.

however there's still a few technical security details to work out like avoiding someone from hi-jacking your cookie sessions.. but that's 95% done. basically just like drew said dont click the "remember me" on anything but your home computers.

that being said i'll still finish implementing that nice little anti-hijackery :)

anti-hijackery complete. The only thing left to add is a "delete all of my saved sessions" option if you guys want it. holla!

OK so how about this.. it was mentioned back on the first page of this thread that we might like to keep the original ordering of the threads rather than sorting by last updated. That would cause problems for threads like this one (thread # 6) or the Notable News thread (#26) because they would sit back on the last & second-to-last pages of threads even when updated.

So for the logged in users I could have two lists: all the "unseen" threads will be listed on the first page in order of last update. Then after that would be the master list of every thread in original posting order.

For someone who's not logged in I can show like the top ten most recently updated threads in the first list and then the master list.

This leaves one final gotcha: For threads like Notable News Totally random videos the blow your mind thread and i want one it seems like they can be posted to at any time to start a new sub-discussion about whatever the new post is. Once again you don't want to click through page after page of threads to find the right meta-thread to post your new thang. you could use the search feature but there should be a better way.

I see two solutions: sub-forums and sticky threads. sub-forums have been on the request list for a while now.. sticky threads would be the least disruptive to our current situation.

With either solution I'd probably apply it to the short list above and possibly a few others. Whatchoo think?

Edit: Here's a page that lists all threads with > 1 page of posts.

lol Mike got banned from a CS server last night bc he typed "www.club409.com" Apparently the server has a "no advertising or you get auto-banned" rule. :O

Anyways how about just adding a sort feature so you could sort by latest or by thread creation date or by creator etc. Just make the column titles clickable and allow the user to sort ascending/descending. Just add the ThreadID column to the list of existing columns on the main page. Perhaps you could save the ordering chosen by the user so it auto-sorts on subsequent logins. I'm not sure if this really address the issue you raised but it would be a nice feature.

Instead of sub-forums what if you assign attributes to a thread e.g. "Notable News" would have "sex lies videotapes cock-n-balls Anna-Nicole-Smith-is-a-decaying-whore" where as "NCAA Football" would have "sports football CJ-has-a-big-cock" You would still have to search for a thread before posting but you could search by genre rather than doing a text search on thread titles. Maybe on the search page you could have a list of clickable attributes which would display all threads tagged with the clicked attribute. Maybe when you are creating a thread you would have checkboxes to assign attributes to that thread or an option to add new attributes if you want to invent a new genre. Once again this doesn't really solve the problem but it could be useful. Some of the more creative thread titles are hard to remember so having searchable attributes might make things simpler. Of course all existing threads would have no attributes assigned but perhaps you could allow users to retroactively edit the attributes.
