So I finally got around to finishing the organizing of my music library. The breakthrough that provided the necessary motivation is a little piece of software called SubSonic. It's a music library application written in Java that allows you to stream your music to anywhere on the internets. So I can sit at work and listen to all my music that's here at home without duplicating the library.Arguably more awesome there is a client available for Android (and iPhone if you're interested) that allows you to stream your music over 3G. It saves a cached version of the songs that it plays so even if you lose connectivity you'll at least have some content available. With this remote listening capability I no longer have to worry about keeping multiple devices in sync. I just have to maintain the one library period. In my 2-3 days of trying the stuff out I'd say it works pretty spectacularly.

Update to the SubSonic stuff -- it now supports streaming videos to wherever including to my phone over 3G. The quality is understandably degraded but if you're watching a sitcom or something that doesn't have to be pretty it gets the job done.

Mounted the TV on the wall this week and moved the router into the living room. Now the xbox the TV and the HTPC are wired into the internets.

The Samsung supports Netflix (and Pandora and a bunch of other internet related apps) and I've activated it on the PMC account (so I guess I should be included in that payment group on Moneys now :)

All in all a pretty exciting week for media consumption at SLD
